On March 19, a meeting of the Expert Council at the Representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights on social and economic rights took place. During the meeting, the draft Labor Code of Ukraine, which is currently being developed by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, was thoroughly discussed. But the Trade Unions have serious reservations about the new draft of the Labor Code.

The head of the All-Ukrainian Union of Defenders of Ukraine, athletes and employees sectors Sergiy Bizov emphasized that about 1 million military personnel are currently on the front line. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a foundation for their full return. However, some provisions of the draft Labor Code do not take into account the protection of workers and their rights.

“Our defenders, servicemen are primarily potential workers in various sectors of the Ukrainian economy. There is already a certain gap between civilians and those who have gone abroad and the defenders of the country. This needs to be taken into account. Therefore, if the state's approach to the country's rebuilding is people-centered, then the Labor Code cannot be adopted in this edition. The Trade Union will not support it,” Bizov says.

As a result, it was voted at the meeting of the expert council that the draft Labor Code cannot be adopted in its current edition.
