When performing a combat mission in the Donetsk region, the legendary commander of the 206th TRO Battalion Vitaliy 'Biba' Baranov was killed
Vitaliy was an active participant in the Maidan. One of the first to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the commander of the 90th Airborne Assault Battalion, which was the last to leave Donetsk Airport. From the first day of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, on February 24, 2022, then Lieutenant Colonel Baranov joined the resistance and, together with his comrades, organized measures to resist the Russian troops along their advancement route in the Kyiv region.
In civilian life, he was involved in public activities. Baranov headed the organization 'Officer Movement of War Participants'.
He was awarded the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the 3rd and 2nd degrees (in 2015 and 2016)
Vitaliy was buried on Wednesday, October 11, in the Kyiv region. He was 56 years old.
Deputy head of the trade union of defenders of Ukraine, athletes, and workers in the field, his comrade - Serhiy Volodymyrovych Kunitsyn, accompanied Baranov on his last journey.
