February 21-22, 2024, representatives of the Trade Union attended a training seminar organized together with the Academy of Labor, Social Relations and Tourism. The opening of the educational event was attended by Sergiy Bizov, head of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, Athletes and Workers, Hryhoriy Osovy, Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine (FTU), Viktor Sukhomlyn, Acting Rector of the Academy of Labor, Social Relations and Tourism, Ivan Tymochko, head of the council of reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Also present at the event were representatives of the Crimean diaspora.
Speaking at the event, Hryhoriy Osovy, head of the FTU, emphasized that training within the Trade Union is a sign of the times.
"The Federation of Trade Unions consists of 46 Ukrainian trade unions. All sectors of the economy. And we are very pleased that even during the war, we have increased our membership and the number of organizations within our association when we admitted the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, Athletes and Workers," said Osovy.
Ivan Tymochko, head of the council of reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, also addressed the audience, reporting that the Council of Reservists previously included over 200,000 people and even then they influenced "unscrupulous employers" regarding social protection.
"In addition, we have sadly accepted the law on Reserves and understanding how difficult it is not to have some representation at the level of drafting laws. Therefore, our joining the Trade Union, considering the challenges facing society and those yet to come, became a logical step in protecting servicemen. I hope that in the future, we will all cooperate effectively," Tymochko said.
During the training, representatives of the Academy and the FTU raised issues related to the history of the trade union movement in Ukraine in their lectures. An important point concerned information about industry agreements and collective agreements. Other speakers focused on the protection of personal data and working with union members.
Separately, regulation of labor relations in wartime conditions was discussed. The practice of resolving individual labor disputes. Legal aspects included representing the interests of union members in courts and other bodies.
As a guest at the event, Imam-Chaplain of the Directorate of Military Chaplaincy of Muslims of Ukraine, Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine "Umma" Khadzhali Muhammad Ali, emphasized the importance of trade union organizations in securing social rights.
"One of the religious norms also concerns standing up for our rights. That is, we will be accountable (to the Most High) for not defending our rights. When our brothers and sisters go to war, we are allowed to defend honor, dignity, and property. And we will be accountable for not defending it. In the same way, we need to defend our rights," Khadzhali Muhammad Ali believes.
Sergiy Bizov, head of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, Athletes and Workers, believes that such training not only allows to improve the quality of the regional or primary Trade Union leader, but also provides an understanding that professional assistance to people is a requirement of these challenging times.
"I am confident that similar training will be conducted in the future," Bizov said.
